George Soros’s Foundation Gives Pro-Terror Groups $80 Million - Encounter Today - Blog

Since 2016, the Open Society Foundations (OSF), founded by George Soros and now led by his son Alexander, has directed over $80 million to organizations associated with terrorism or extremist violence, raising serious concerns about its funding priorities.

In an interview with Glenn Beck, investigative researcher at the Capitol Research Center (CRC), an American investigative think tank, Ryan Mauro stated that “over $23 million went to at least seven groups that are doing things that meet the FBI’s definition of domestic terrorism.”

“We traced over $80 million going from the Open Society Foundations to at least 54 groups engaged in crime and domestic terror on US soil, or that are pro-terrorism, or are associated with foreign terrorist organizations or explicitly pro-terror groups.”
We’ve highlighted a few of the specific groups engaged in what the FBI classifies as actions of domestic terrorism that were receiving funds from OSF as per the CRC’s report.

Funding Domestic Extremism in the U.S.

The CRC found that Soros’ OSF has provided millions to U.S.-based groups, often under the guise of “direct actions.” These include:

  • Center for Third World Organizing and Ruckus Society: These groups received funding and were involved in training activists in destructive tactics, such as property destruction and sabotage, during the 2020 riots.
  • Sunrise Movement: This organization, which received OSF support, endorsed the Antifa-linked Stop Cop City campaign. Activists tied to this campaign currently face over 40 domestic terrorism charges and 60 racketeering indictments.
  • Movement for Black Lives: OSF granted $18 million to this group, which co-authored a radical guide praising Hamas’s October 7 attack and teaching activists how to use false IDs, create blockades, and disrupt economies.

Supporting Controversial Groups Abroad

Beyond the U.S., OSF has funneled over $2.3 million between 2016 and 2023 to Al-Haq, a West Bank-based NGO accused of ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a group designated as a terrorist organization by both the U.S. and the European Union.

Grants to Al-Haq included $400,000 for general support and an $800,000 institutional award. In September 2025, the U.S. State Department sanctioned Al-Haq for its role in supporting campaigns targeting Israel through the International Criminal Court.

Why This Matters

The funding of these groups raises questions about OSF’s role in supporting activities linked to violence and extremism, both domestically and internationally.

Critics argue that the foundation’s grants, intended to promote social justice, have instead empowered organizations engaged in or associated with illegal and harmful actions.

As scrutiny grows, the Open Society Foundations’ financial ties to these groups highlight a complex and controversial issue, sparking debate about the balance between activism and extremism. For more details on OSF’s funding, visit x.ai/grok or check official reports on nonprofit funding.
