'Day of the Bible' Declared By PA Legislators - Encounter Today - Blog

A grassroots initiative in Pennsylvania is emerging to steer the nation toward stronger spiritual foundations by establishing a national “Day of the Bible,” with lawmakers invoking scripture as a guiding force.

Pennsylvania state representatives Stephanie Borowicz and Doug Mastriano led the charge this year, successfully designating September 12 as the “Day of the Bible” in the state.

“I can’t think of anything more important than to put and restore the Bible back before (America’s) 250th anniversary,” State Rep. Borowicz shared in an interview with CBN News.

The idea is now expanding nationally, with a congressional resolution introduced to honor the day across the U.S.

Senator Mastriano sees this move as a catalyst for broader renewal, “we are that rock that dropped into the lake, and I believe we’re taking this land back.”

The movement kicked off last month with an event in Philadelphia’s Independence Square, held in the historic Congress Hall. This site hosted the first U.S. Congress from 1790 to 1800, where founding fathers deliberated in the very seats still present today, and the Bible played a pivotal role in those early proceedings.

September 12 marks the anniversary of the Continental Congress authorizing the Aitken Bible, the first full English Bible printed in America, often called the “Bible of the Revolution.”

This is a call for a spiritual revival and even those in the halls of our governments are acknowledging it.

Borowicz says, “We’re restoring the Bible back. And this is, like you said, this is a battle of good versus evil, right? And we don’t fight flesh and blood. We fight principalities and rulers of this dark world.”

“They read through the whole Bible at our State Capitol in Pennsylvania every year. So this amazing group comes and reads through the Bible in like seven days. Crime goes down. They said every time they read at each State Capitol, crime goes down,” she says.

Scripture was instrumental in America’s founding, and Mastriano emphasizes its ongoing relevance on a personal level. “Study it, read it, read it to your children at night, read a Psalm a day, do something with it, because our foundation, our virtue, our nation, our republic can only be sustained with it,” he says.

As Pennsylvania moves the dial forward, let’s pray that the rest of the federal government will move in the same direction. Thankfully, there are strong reasons to believe that they will, as under the Trump administration, we have the first Faith Office which has spearheaded several initiatives towards religious freedom and ensuring our nation’s religious roots aren’t forgotten.
