FBI Launches Investigation Into Violence Against Seattle Christians - Encounter Today - Blog

The FBI has launched an investigation into “allegations of targeted violence against religious groups” following attacks by Antifa over the weekend against Pursuit Church and Mayday USA, a Christian group, that held a permitted concert in Cal Anderson Park in Seattle, Washington.

The peaceful Christian rally organized by Pastor Russell Johnson of Pursuit Church NW and the Mayday USA was part of a five-city tour under the banner #DontMessWithOurKids, aimed to uphold biblical values, including the sanctity of human life, biological gender, the nuclear family, and religious freedom.

Despite being a permitted worship gathering, the rally was met with chaos as black-clad Antifa members and transgender activists stormed barricades, assaulted attendees, and attacked police, leading to 23 arrests and the injury of a police officer.

“We have asked our team to fully investigate allegations of targeted violence against religious groups at the Seattle concert. Freedom of religion isn’t a suggestion,” FBI Deputy Director, Dan Bongino posted.

The rally, attended by approximately 500 Christians, featured worship, music, and speeches calling for a return to traditional family values and religious liberty. Pastor Johnson, a prominent voice for conservative Christians in Washington State, emphasized the need for believers to step out of the church and bring Christ’s love to dark places. “We’re not here to attack anyone,” Johnson stated.

In response to the rally, Seattle’s Democrat Mayor Bruce Harrell labeled it as “far-right” provocation rather than denouncing the violent actions of Antifa, an action that has not gone unnoticed.

In a statement, Harrell claimed the event was held to “provoke a reaction by promoting beliefs that are inherently opposed to our city’s values” in the heart of Seattle’s LGBTQ+ neighborhood. He further announced a review of the city’s permitting process, questioning why the Christian group was allowed to gather at Cal Anderson Park, a decision critics argue infringes on First Amendment rights.

Pastor Johnson responded on X, calling Harrell’s remarks “bigoted” and demanding an apology: “The Mayor of Seattle owes Christians in WA State an apology for his bigoted remarks after folks who were holding a peaceful worship event were violently assaulted.”

Rattle In Seattle

In response to the mayor’s inflammatory remarks and perceived bias against Christians, Pastor Johnson organized an additional rally on the steps of Seattle City Hall on Tuesday to demand Harrell’s resignation or a public apology.

Johnson, along with several other faith-based organizations and local conservative groups, called out Harrell’s “God-hating rhetoric” and failure to hold violent agitators accountable. The rally, which featured prayer, worship, and speeches emphasizing the biblical call to stand firm against persecution while promoting unity among believers.

During the rally, Pastor Johnson made a shocking announcement to the crowd that he had heard from the White House that the FBI had officially “opened an investigation into the city of Washington.”

Conclusion

For the people of God, there is no retreat, there is no turning back and it is sometimes in the darkest of places, such as Seattle – the least churched city in America, that the desperation of those crying out for a move of the Holy Spirit in their city burns the brightest!

When you stand for God, He stands with you and it is only too evident in the case of Pursuit Church and Mayday USA, a movement has been birthed. This movement isn’t one emerging as a result of a rally but one that stems from the hearts of God’s people in the secret place for His mighty hand to move.
