Disagree with Abortion That's A 'Crime Against Humanity' Says UN - Encounter Today - Blog

The United Nations is working on a treaty that could make the disapproval of abortion a crime against humanity whilst expanding international “gender persecution” laws.

In a play with words, several Western nations are seeking to obtain influence over other nations through the United Nations mechanism and this could hold severe ramifications for nations who don’t go along with the West.

This story begins with what is known as the Rome Statute which is an international treaty that established the International Criminal Court (ICC), which prosecutes individuals for crimes such as genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

In Article 7, the Rome Statute defines “forced pregnancy” as “the unlawful confinement of a woman forcibly made pregnant, with the intent of affecting the ethnic composition of any population or carrying out other grave violations of international law. This definition shall not in any way be interpreted as affecting national laws relating to pregnancy.”

In 2023, the United Kingdom sought to redefine “forced pregnancy” to include any restriction on abortion or contraception. Sadly, Cuba and Canada agreed to move forward with this redefinition.

Thankfully, the African, Asian and Arab voting blocks have prevented the United States, European Union and the Nordic countries from advancing the treaty until there’s unanimous consent.

This may seem shocking to hear that these countries are seeking unanimity on such a broad and far reaching document and not the United States or the European Union. Then again, it is the Biden administration at the helm.

Biden’s administration also worked with China to ensure that the American people never heard what was happening in the negotiations on the World Health Organization Pandemic Treaty, so should we really be surprised?

In addition to redefining “gender” from solely referring to sex to including all the definitions now under the sun, the new treaty goes on to disregard a long held objection of the United States to the Rome Statute’s framework that a foreign court would violate the due process guarantees for U.S. citizens under the Constitution.

Again, why is Biden pushing for a treaty that goes against this fundamental legal principle that other nations envy?

Aside from the obvious concerns of this treaty, the fact that the Biden administration, along with the European Union, are trying to push for a swift adoption process as they did with the WHO Pandemic Treaty adds to the nefariousness of this treaty.

In conclusion, this treaty would help Western nations gain influence in/over other nations and this is made possible through the United Nations.

This reminds us of Proverbs 29:2 which says, “When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.”

Many people will be negatively affected by this treaty it if continues its march through the halls of the United Nations and this is why we need believers to stand in opposition to these agendas which are furthered through policy on the national level and through treaties on the international level!

This call to action isn’t just for those in North America, it is a call to all believers. There is no room for apathy in the life of those who follow Christ. We are called to advance and expose the evil works of darkness.

Thankfully, President-elect Trump will be coming into office next month, and whilst this will change much on the national and international front, it is no excuse to sit back and disengage. On the contrary, this is the time to push forward!

The United States must return to upholding the sovereignty of our nation and a respect for others. God is the creator of nations after all!

“When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, When He separated the sons of man, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the sons of Israel.” Deuteronomy 32:8

The treaty is slated to be completed in 2029.
