Trump Claims Gaza Ceasefire Intact Amid Hamas Assaults and IDF Casualties

President Trump asserts that the Gaza ceasefire between Hamas and Israel remains intact, despite attacks by Hamas over the weekend.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, Hamas’s assault in southern Gaza resulted in the deaths of two IDF soldiers and injuries to three others. In response, Israel launched airstrikes on known Hamas terrorist sites.

One of the looming questions pertaining to the Peace Deal achieved a week ago, is over the disarmament of Hamas. During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, President Trump indicated that there is “not a timeline, not a hard line, but we’re going to see how it all works out.”
“They’ve lived there for a long time. They’re very violent. You understand, you’ve been covering it for a very long time, but we’re gonna find out. So it’s not a hot timeline, but it’s a line in my own mind. And at a certain point, if they don’t do what they’re supposed to do, then we’ll have to do it for them,” he said.
Trump’s envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff and advisor Jared Kushner have been in Israel working to uphold the deal.
Following the ceasefire’s implementation, Hamas officials publicly affirmed they will not surrender their arms and aim to have a role in governing Gaza after the conflict. The Trump proposal, however, mandates that Hamas disarms and prohibits the organization from holding any authority in the Gaza Strip.
Once the ceasefire commenced, Hamas solidified its grip by carrying out executions of opponents in the streets, demanding payments from local business owners, and flaunting weaponry openly.
Whilst the Trump administration works to ensure peace is securely established, human rights bodies like the United Nations Human Rights Council, continue to remain silent.
Disturbingly, despite being shown the massacre by Hamas and others accused of killing over 50 Palestinians who were opposing Hamas, the Council has chosen to remain silent. Meanwhile, they continue to condemn Israel.
Should Hamas retain its weaponry, it could threaten the progression of the ceasefire strategy.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as Sunni powers, are anticipated to join an Arab contingent to oversee the ceasefire, though reports suggest they will abstain if Hamas does not disarm.
Observers contend that without Hamas being disarmed, it could disrupt any stabilizing force deployed to Gaza, and without its neutralization, efforts toward recovery and rebuilding would be futile.
Notably, Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. abstained from the latest peace conference in Egypt, where they emphasized prior warnings regarding “countries that destabilize the region,” a subtle nod to Qatar, which has long provided financial support to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
