Secrets Behind Hezbollah’s Beeper Explosion Revealed
Two retired Mossad agents who used the cover names of “Michael” and “Gabriel” revealed details of a decade-long covert operation targeting Hezbollah.
The two agents spoke with CBS’s 60 Minutes in an eye opening interview.
“We create a pretend world. We are a global production company: We write the screenplay, we're the directors, we're the producers, we're the main actors. And the world is our stage,” says a retired Mossad agent who was among those who led the pager op. https://t.co/OPYLTLVQ8v pic.twitter.com/Vj49IsWgKx

10 years ago, Mossad developed walkie-talkies with hidden explosive devices in their batteries through a shell company which sold over 16,000 walkie-talkies to Hezbollah.
The devices remained dormant for years.
Over time, Mossad realized that these walkie-talkies were predominately being used in battle situations, so they shifted their focus to pagers which Hezbollah had been purchasing through the Taiwanese company, Gold Apollo Company, LTD.
There would be complications, however.

Embedding explosive devices into the pagers made them bulky which meant that Mossad had to convince Hezbollah that these new pagers were an upgrade.
The convincing came by way of marketing materials which highlighted several features such as durability and battery longevity.
The deception was complete when Gold Apollo agreed to partner with Mossad and the saleswoman that Hezbollah worked with was recruited.
Then, on September 17, 2023, all the pagers beeped across Lebanon, explosions followed and hospitals began filling up with injured Hezbollah members.
Following the attack, Mossad then activated dormant walkie-talkies which were attached to additional Hezbollah members, some of whom were attending the funerals of those who died from the pager attack.
WSJ: The affected pagers were from a new shipment that Hezbollah received in recent days. A senior Hezbollah terrorist speculated that malware may have caused the devices to heat up and explode. There are close to 1,500 wounded or dead terrorists. pic.twitter.com/EXfPsQ7kO6

Larger targets were then eliminated by the IDF including Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah and Syria’s Assad regime.
“We’ve already moved on to the next thing, and they’ll have to guess what it is,” said Mossad agent “Michael.”
