FBI Declassifies Alleged Chinese Plot to Interfere in 2020 Election

In a stunning revelation that reopened controversy over the integrity of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, FBI Director Kash Patel revealed that the bureau had declassified documents detailing charges of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) conspiracy to interfere in the election which saw Joe Biden defeat President Donald Trump.
The documents, now in the possession of Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, indicate a scheme to print fake U.S. driver’s licenses as a way to make mail-in ballots more susceptible to forgery and purportedly to advance Biden’s campaign.
The FBI has located documents which detail alarming allegations related to the 2020 U.S. election, including allegations of interference by the CCP.

The declassified information, first reported by Just The News, is derived from reports from a confidential source in the summer of 2020. The source claimed the CCP was organizing an operation to make and mail thousands of counterfeit driver’s licenses into America. The counterfeit IDs were supposedly used to obtain mail-in ballots, which were then used to vote for Biden.
Shockingly, the documents suggest this intelligence was “substantiated” but abruptly recalled and buried by the FBI under then-Director Christopher Wray, who testified at the time that there were no known foreign interference plots ahead of the election.
This revelation raises serious questions about the FBI’s handling of critical intelligence and whether political motivations influenced the decision to suppress evidence of foreign interference.
Patel, a loyal Trump ally and vocal critic of the “deep state,” stated, “Thanks to the oversight effort and collaboration of Chairman Grassley, the FBI still has to provide historic transparency at the people’s Bureau.” He furthered that the declassified records were handed over to Grassley for review in a flash, showing a dedication to exposing what he describes as systemic corruption within federal agencies.
The timing of this disclosure is particularly damning.
In August 2020, when voting was in its early stages, Wray downplayed foreign dangers, and rather than commenting on credible Chinese meddling news, he lingered on the supposed Russian incursion. Critics argue one-sided focus of this kind suited larger establishment narratives to avoid China’s growing influence whilst others focused on the FBI’s suppression of the intelligence as being “proof of systemic corruption.”
The allegations fit into a broader pattern of Chinese efforts to undermine U.S. sovereignty as the CCP has been recognized by the FBI for a long time as one of the primary counterintelligence threats, with them citing its use of economic espionage, cyberintrusions, and influence operations to shape American policy and public opinion.
A 2020 FBI briefing detailed China’s modus operandi, including dissident harassment on U.S. soil and intellectual property theft to finance its global dominance. The newly released declassified files offer fresh fodder for these suspicions, suggesting the CCP tried to tinker with the democratic process itself.
Skeptics of the 2020 election result, including President Trump and many MAGA supporters, long claimed that foreign interference and voter fraud tainted Biden’s victory. Meanwhile, courts and election officials rebuffed claims of widespread fraud, and now, the declassified documents have added credibility to suspicions that critical information was withheld from the public.
Two Important Points
The first important point to take note of is that the intelligence had not yet been fully vetted nor confirmed when it was recalled, and according to some journalists such as News18, allegations of a “stolen” election have been soundly rejected.
Second, is the fact that the intelligence was ignored in favor of a report based on Russia and Iran—nations also mentioned in 2020 interference—is further adding to allegations of bias.
Grassley’s efforts to promote transparency cannot be overemphasized. The Iowa Republican has been a dogged champion of accountability on this file, having previously raised that the FBI had politically sensitive information withheld from it. The examination of these documents by Grassley’s committee could result in hearings or further probes, potentially revealing more about the CCP’s purported scheme and the failure of the FBI to act.
Conclusion
Accountability is vital, not just for the sake of America’s institutions at present but also for the future of America as a whole because someone, or many persons, permitted foreign agents into American democracy to undermine its functioning.
As the nation grapples with this shocker, the declassified documents serve as a wake-up call; if the CCP was indeed planning a plot to influence the 2020 election, it underscores the need for safeguarding America’s electoral systems against foreign interference.
It’s no one’s goal to re-live 2020 so much as it is ensuring the next election is secure from foreigners looking to steal it and, more menacingly, from internal collusion.
The question now is if Grassley’s audit will bring justice, or if it is another chapter in a serial drama of still-unanswered questions about the 2020 election.
