BREAKING- Joe Rogan- “Christianity Works…! - Encounter Today - Blog

For years, Joe Rogan has been the ultimate skeptic’s skeptic: UFC commentator, stand-up comic, psychedelic explorer, and host of the most downloaded podcast in history. He has platformed atheists, agnostics, conspiracy theorists, and New Age gurus with equal enthusiasm. Christianity, when it came up, was usually treated as just one more interesting cultural artifact, often with a raised eyebrow. That may be changing.

In a recent episode, Rogan dropped a string of comments that have sent ripples through both Christian and secular corners of the internet. Speaking about a local church he has quietly started attending, he said:

“The scripture to me is what is interesting. It’s fascinating… Christianity, it works. The people that are Christians, that go to this church that I go to, they are the nicest f—— people you will ever meet… It works.”

Let that sink in. The man who once joked that church was “like CrossFit with more guilt” is now saying, unprompted, that the Bible fascinates him and that Christianity, in practice, actually works.

When “It Works” Is the Highest Compliment

In Rogan’s world, pragmatism reigns supreme. He respects jiu-jitsu because it works. He respects psychedelics because (in the right context) they work. He respects strength training because it works. For him to look at a room full of ordinary churchgoers and declare, “It works,” is about the highest praise he knows how to give.

But Christians know there’s a deeper reason it works: Jesus promised that the world would recognize His disciples by their love (John 13:35). When a community is marked by genuine kindness, forgiveness, humility, and joy, something supernatural is on display. According to Joe Rogan, he now has a local church where that “something” is unmistakably real.

The Scripture Is “Fascinating”

Even more striking is Rogan’s growing interest in the Bible itself. During his podcast, he didn’t say it’s boring, oppressive, or outdated; he called it fascinating.

That single word is a crack in the door. The same man who has read ancient Sumerian texts, Gnostic gospels, and Carlos Castaneda is now being drawn to the 66 books that have shaped Western civilization more than any other literature in history.

The Holy Spirit has a long track record of using Scripture to arrest the hearts of unlikely people. Augustine found himself reading Romans 13 in a garden and was never the same. C.S. Lewis thought he was “the most reluctant convert in all England” until the weight of the Gospels became undeniable.

Nothing is impossible for God, making it evident that the living Word is doing a behind-the-scenes work in Austin, Texas.

A Reminder to the Church: Love Is Still the Apologetic

Rogan’s comments are a backhanded compliment to every faithful local church that refuses to compromise on truth whilst loving the people she serves. In an era of Christian celebrity scandals and online outrage, a humble congregation simply living out the Sermon on the Mount has apparently done more to soften Joe Rogan’s heart than a thousand debate clips ever could.

Jesus didn’t say, “They will know you are My disciples because you win all the arguments.” He said, “They will know you are My disciples by your love for one another.”

Let’s Pray, Not Pounce

Social media algorithms are filled with a plethora of hot takes: “Joe Rogan is getting saved!” “He’s just virtue-signaling!” “Claimed, named, and sealed!” None of these are true (that we know of). Joe hasn’t professed faith in Christ (yet) but the soil of his heart appears softer than it has ever been in public.

So what should Christians do? Exactly what that local church in Austin is already doing: keep preaching the gospel faithfully, keep loving newcomers extravagantly, and pray fervently.

Pray that the same Spirit who moved over the waters would move over Joe’s mind and heart. Pray that the Scriptures he finds “fascinating” would become the very words of life. Pray that the love he has encountered in that church would lead him to the One who is Love.

If the prodigal son can come home after wasting his inheritance on everything the world offers, then the guy who has interviewed every spiritual option under the sun can certainly find his way to the Father’s house.

And if, one day, Joe Rogan stands up and says, “Jesus is Lord,” the angels will throw a bigger party than any sold-out UFC event at the Sphere.

Until then, the Church has work to do: keep being the kind of people even Joe Rogan can’t help but notice.

Because apparently, brothers and sisters, it works.
