FBI Cracks Down on 764 Child Exploitation Network - Encounter Today - Blog

The 764 group is an online network classified as a subset of Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE), a form of extremism involving individuals motivated by hatred for society and a desire to see societal collapse. The group operates primarily through social media platforms and gaming systems to prey on vulnerable children, facilitating the possession, production, and sharing of extreme gore media and child sex abuse material.

Members of 764 engage in coordinated extortions, blackmailing teenage victims to meet the group’s demands. Targets include children as young as 13. Notable cases include a Baltimore individual who targeted five victims, one aged 13; an Arizona affiliate accused of targeting nine children aged 11-15 with charges of distributing child pornography, cyberstalking, animal crushing, and conspiring to provide material support to terrorists; and a Jacksonville case involving attempts to entice a 13-year-old into sexual acts, though not fully affiliated with 764.

In April 2025, two leaders, 21-year-old Leonidas Varagiannis (alias “War”) and 20-year-old Prasan Nepal (alias “Trippy”), were arrested for operating an international child exploitation enterprise.

Thankfully, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has intensified efforts against 764 and NVE.

In fiscal year 2025, the FBI reported a 490% increase in NVE-related arrests compared to the previous year, marking nearly a fivefold surge. Over 300 nationwide cases involve 764, with additional investigations ongoing. In the past year, the FBI located or recovered 5,400 child victims, a 22.7% increase from the prior period. These efforts stem from FBI-led investigations in collaboration with state, federal, and foreign authorities.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated, “This FBI is fully engaged in dismantling NVE networks and violent groups like 764 – who prey on young children using online platforms like gaming systems or social media. As we speak, we have over 300 cases nationwide related to 764 alone, with more to come, and have surged NVE-related arrests almost 5-fold from the year prior. We won’t stop until we get the job done.”

It is important to note that not all NVE cases are linked to 764, but that the group represents a significant portion of these threats. Protecting children from such networks was identified as a top priority by President Trump’s FBI.
