Can I Lose My Salvation?

Can salvation be lost? What does the Bible have to say about testing the limits of grace? Is living a holy life possible with Christ?
If you’re wondering how close you can be to the line of sin without crossing the line, it’s probable that you’ve already crossed the line.
Hebrews 12:14 says that “without holiness, no man shall see God,” whilst 1 Corinthians 6:9 says “the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Among these, Scripture lists “those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
The book of Galatians also states that anyone living this kind of life will not inherit the kingdom of God: “Sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these.” (Galatians 5:19-21)
Can you spot an important similarity in these two verses?
Both letters are written to churches: the church in Corinth and the church in Galatia.
1 Corinthians was a letter written to the church in Corinth because they had some major problems going on: including immorality, adultery, and divisions. Meanwhile, the church in Galatia was experiencing the teachings of incorrect doctrine in which Paul writes this letter to correct and teach.
The Cost of Sin
Sin separates men from God, so even if you are Christian, unless there is true repentance, sin will separate you from God. And anyone living that kind of life will not inherit the kingdom of God.
What is repentance, you might be asking? Repentance is to turn away, to go in another direction and not return.
Thank God that because of Jesus’s sacrifice and His precious blood’s atonement, we can be reconciled to God! And again, that requires repentance.
We read in 1 John 1:9 that “If you confess your sins He is faithful and just to forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.”
So IF you do sin, repent! But sin should never become repetitive because the Word of God says in Hebrews 10:26-27 “For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.”
“We all sin, even as Christians,” some say, but just because someone says it doesn’t mean it is Biblical truth! Because what the Bible says is that if you have been born again: “Sin shall no longer reign or have dominion over you for you are not under law but under grace.” Romans 6:18
You are set free from sin when you become a new creation, and not only that, but you are commanded to not let sin reign in your body. (Romans 6:12)
God will not instruct you to do something that He has not given you the strength or empowerment to do. If the Lord said that without holiness no man shall see God, then there is an empowerment from God that makes us holy and strengthens us to walk in holiness!
His name? The Holy Spirit.
Also referred to as the Spirit of holiness in Romans 1:4, He is the One who will empower you to live righteously as you cooperate with Him.
So if the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells on the inside of you, what can’t you do?
It is up to us to shift our focus from how close we can get to the line of entering into sin without falling to setting our minds on the Spirit which brings life and peace!
