‘Trust In Jesus’ Signs Defended In England!

Trust In Jesus Signs Defended In England - Encounter Today - Blog

The spiritual state of the UK isn’t good; street preachers are being arrested, silent prayer has been banned outside abortion facilities and the celebration of Islam by their king and government leaders is all proof. There is an undercurrent of a great reawakening, however, and one county in Wales is proof.

When banners began popping up across the city of Cardiff that said “Trust in Jesus, he is alive, come to church,” Humanists UK, issued a complain to the city council.

Their issue? The council’s logo was at the bottom of the banners which, to them, implied that the council was encouraging Cardiff residents to be Christian.

In a statement issued by Wales Humanists coordinator Kathy Riddick, she said:
“It [Cardiff Council] has a responsibility to remain impartial and not give the impression of favouring or endorsing any particular religion or belief.”

She continued, “Cardiff Council serves a diverse community with a wide range of beliefs. By failing to make sure these banners clearly state they are paid advertisements from an external group, the council is using its authority and branding to promote one specific faith.”

Funnily enough, no complaints were issued to the council by Humanists UK when banners were put up around the city promoting Islam during Ramadan.

Also, back in 2022, Humanists UK made no ruckus when Cardiff Council paid £15K from their Internal Transport Budget to install four ‘art works’ on a road to celebrate LGBTQ+.

The only messaging that appears to trigger is the one that points to the Son of God, Jesus Christ!

Why would this be?

Because we know that there is power in the very name of Jesus as we read in Acts 3:6 which says, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

When we “believe in Jesus’ name,” we are trusting in the finished work of the risen Christ on the cross as seen in 1 John 5:13, and at Easter, we celebrate Him conquering death, hell and the grave and securing forever our salvation!

No wonder humanists don’t want the message of Christ’s resurrection being spread!
Despite complaints, Cardiff Council has stated that they are in compliance with their advertising policy and that they have no involvement in “decisions regarding individual campaigns”.

In response to Riddick’s statement, a spokesman for Cardiff council replied: “Under the terms of Cardiff Council’s advertising policy, registered charities and businesses are permitted to purchase banner space on council-owned lamp posts.”

“The booking of this advertising space is managed by Bay Media, an external national provider of advertising space, in compliance with the council’s advertising policy,” and that “the Cardiff council logo is placed at the bottom of all banner advertising co-ordinated by Bay Media in the city to demonstrate that the advert has permission to be on council property.”

“It does not indicate any formal partnership or endorsement of the specific content of the advertisements.”

Celebrating what Jesus did for us isn’t a celebration meant to be kept within the four walls of the church, whether that be at Easter or on any mundane day of the week.

The transformative message of the Gospel is the best news to every generation, be sure to share it loudly and proudly.
