Is God Judging America - Encounter Today - Blog

Has God ever let His children endure the judgment that He pours out on the wicked?

Does God allow the righteous to be judged with the wicked?

You may have heard statements such as, “God is judging America,” or “God is pouring out His judgment on the world.” These are often given as explanations for all the turmoil in the world.

But how could God judge the righteous along with the wicked?

In Genesis 18, when Abraham intercedes for Sodom concerning God’s judgment against them for their wickedness, he says, “Surely You would not do such a thing, destroying the righteous along with the wicked. Why, You would be treating the righteous and the wicked exactly the same! Surely You would not do that! Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?”

Here, the Word of God —God-breathed and unchanging—makes it clear that it would be wrong for God’s judgment to fall upon both the righteous and the wicked.

The Lord affirmed to Abraham that He would not destroy the entire city if even a few righteous people were found there.

Even when He poured out His judgment on Sodom, He made a way of escape for the righteous.

When He brought judgment upon Egypt, He set His people, the Israelites, apart so they would not experience the same suffering.

Although we are under a New Covenant, God has not changed. When you receive Christ and become a child of God, you are set apart just like the Israelites were.

Jesus Himself made it clear: “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:17
We are in a period of grace in which the Lord is giving people time to be saved.

However, Scripture also warns, “He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with His winnowing fork. Then He will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into His barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.” Matthew 3:12
So what exactly is happening now?

Everything Jesus described in Matthew 24: nations rising against nations, wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes and famines, lawlessness increasing, and the love of many growing cold. We are witnessing it all.

Every country remains on edge.

According to an article from The Guardian, on Tuesday morning, April 1, China launched surprise military drills against Taiwan.

Michael Dorgan, a reporter for Fox News, posted on April 1 that “Russia has initiated its largest military draft in 14 years.”

Tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate after “Iran rejected direct negotiations with the United States.”

Meanwhile, conflict persists between Israel and the entire Middle East. At the same time, global superpowers such as the United States, Russia, and China face increasing tensions.

Before the 7.7-magnitude earthquake, Myanmar had not experienced such a major earthquake since 2012.

But Jesus said, “The end is not yet… All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:6, 8, NKJV).

In 1 Peter 4:7, Peter, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said, “The end of all things is at hand.” Yet, the end is not yet.

In fact, Jesus said, “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People did not realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes” (Matthew 24:37-39, NLT).

There will not be an apocalyptic event before the rapture. Life will continue as usual.
God is not judging the earth at this time. He is patiently waiting so that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
