Students Chalk Gospel All Over Campus!

Sharing the Gospel can be done in many different ways, and for a group of Christian students at Western Kentucky University, chalking all 879 verses from the Book of John across their campus sidewalks was their way of reaching the lost at their school!
Writing and illustrating all 21 chapters were roughly 70 students who took around two hours to complete the project.
After the students from Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM), Cru, and Hilltoppers for Christ had finished, they came together to pray for their fellow students and the faculty of WKU.
Luke Alford, BCM’s vice president, said the creative way of sharing the Gospel came by way of alumni who saw it on social media.
Although some criticized the effort as a waste of time, many others were inspired, with students like Ryan Cantabeni feeling encouraged in their faith.
“It’s my goal for the year, to get more connected with God,” Cantabeni said. “It’s really nice to have some kind of sign showing me [to] keep doing this.”
For non-religious students like Jenna Kittrell who spoke with the Kentucky Times, the message didn’t hold as deep of a significance and yet, she appreciated the artistic addition to campus life.
A Greater Story…
This chalking effort comes as part of a broader wave of Christian revival on college campuses with recent events like UniteUS’ outreach at the University of Kentucky drawing thousands of students and inspiring a new generation of believers.
United US was birthed out of a desire to “lift the name of Jesus” and is producing incredible fruit, from salvations to baptisms to campuses flooded with worship – revival is clearly stirring up all across US college campuses!

One example comes from the University of Kentucky where more than 2,000 students responded to the gospel message of Jesus Christ back in February of this year.
Commenting on the outpouring of God’s Spirit, United US founder Jennie Allen said, “It’s hard to believe. This keeps happening. It is insane.”
Unite US started in 2023 when 5,000 students came together to worship Jesus at Auburn University’s Neville Arena. At this time, 200 precious souls were spontaneously baptized in a nearby lake.
Since its inception, Unite US has brought together more than 70,000 college students!

“The church body is so important,” Alford said, “You have people from all different stages of life and walks of life united by one cause.”
What’s happening in Kentucky is part of a larger movement sweeping American college campuses, where students are awakening to the power of the Gospel, much like the revival described in Acts 2:17, where God promises to pour out His Spirit, igniting hearts and bringing salvation.
This creative act serves as a bold declaration of these student’s desire to see lives transformed by Jesus and what a better way of doing so than pointing others to where they may find hope in Him, through God’s Word!
“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” Romans 10:17
