Did The USA Just Withdraw From The United Nations?
“The United Nations has devolved into a platform for tyrants,” said Senator Mike Lee who recently proposed the Disengaging Entirely from the United Nations Debacle (DEFUND) Act which would withdraw the United States from the organization.
The bill wouldn’t just see the United States government withdraw taxpayer funds from the globalist organization, but it could also prompt the United Nations (UN) to move out of the United States (US) entirely!
The United Nations has become a platform for tyrants, and a megaphone for people who hate America.

We should stop paying for it and put America first.
Proud to introduce the DEFUND Act with @chiproytx and @RepMikeRogersAL to withdraw the US from the UN.

Key Elements of the DEFUND Act includes the following:
- Repeals critical acts that bind the U.S. to the UN, such as the United Nations Participation Act of 1945 and the United Nations Headquarters Agreement Act.
- Ceases all forms of U.S. financial support to the UN, including assessed and voluntary contributions.
- Prohibits any U.S. involvement in UN peacekeeping operations.
- Revokes diplomatic immunity for UN officials within the United States.
- Formalizes withdrawal from the World Health Organization and other UN conventions.
- Sets stringent conditions for any future engagement with the UN, requiring
- Senate approval with explicit withdrawal provisions.
On February 4, 2025, President Trump issued an executive order which removed participation in and funding from several United Nations organizations such as the UNHRC, UNRWA and UNESCO.
This action from the executive branch serves as a clear signal that there is movement within the Trump administration to see the DEFUND Act move forward, whether it be in part or in its entirety.
The DEFUND Act will have to go through both the House and Senate before it could ever reach the Presidents desk, however, it serves as an important signal, not only to the American people, but to the world at large who looks in on American politics for direction.
Speaking with Fox News Digital, Senator Lee stated, “The United Nations has devolved into a platform for tyrants and a venue to attack America and her allies. We should stop paying for it. As President Trump revolutionizes our foreign policy by putting America first, we should withdraw from this sham organization and prioritize real alliances that keep our country safe and prosperous.”
At present, the US gives more funding to the UN than any other country.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, the US donated over $18 billion to the globalist organization in 2022 alone. That figure makes up roughly a third of the UN’s entire budget, thus making the withdrawal of US funding highly probable for the UN.
Seeing as the vast majority of funding the UN receives from nations and organizations stays within the UN system and never reaches those it is intended for, this move by the US government could also serve as a call for reform within the UN itself.
“The United Nations has enjoyed American tax money while often undermining our interests, attacking our allies and bolstering our adversaries,” said Representative Chip Roy.
Roy continued, “what has the United Nations achieved? Despite all of the money and the attention, this corrupt globalist organization has, for decades, failed to prevent wars, genocides, human rights violations and even pandemics.”
In conclusion, removing the US from the UN financially falls in line with the “America First” agenda, but it also brings commons sense back to the table by forcing the UN to reevaluate whether or not they should focus on promoting radical ideologies and woke agendas or actually helping those in dire straits.
Let’s pray that this bill not only helps get America back on track, but also acts as a catalyst for other nations to review their own contributions to the UN and that the agendas behind the globalist institution continue to be thwarted by any and all means.
