LGBT Banned: US Embassies Remove Leftist Flags

Only the American flag may be flown at U.S. embassies and outposts at home and abroad thanks to President Trump’s new “One Flag Policy.”

In a directive issued by the State Department, now headed by Marco Rubio, the ban on any flags associated with leftist causes such as Black Lives Matter or the LGBT flag are strictly forbidden.

There are, however, a couple of exceptions for the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) emblem and the Wrongful Detainees Flag.

The order reads, “The U.S. flag is a powerful symbol of pride and it is fitting and respectful that only the U.S. flag be flown or displayed at U.S. facilities, both domestically and abroad.”

“Starting immediately, only the United States of America flag is authorized to be flown or displayed at U.S. facilities, both domestic and abroad, and featured in U.S. government content.”

The order continues, “The flag of the United States of America united all Americans under the universal principles of justice, liberty, and democracy. These values, which are the bedrock of our great country, are shared by all American citizens, past and present.”

If State Department employees choose to violate the order, they would be subject to serious disciplinary actions from reassignment to termination.

Background

This policy is a departure from Obama’s administration, as well as the Biden administration, both of whom allowed leftist flags to fly outside of U.S. embassies and consulates.

Flying flags other than the American flag has become a sociopolitical tug of war between Democrats and Republicans.

LGBT flags were first flown at U.S. embassies during former President Barack Obama’s administration, and were then banned during President Donald Trump’s first administration.

Former President Biden reinstated the practice during his first term in office.

Interestingly, in March of 2024, the Biden administration endorsed a $1.2 trillion spending deal that contained a provision that stipulated that only the American flag and other official flags to fly at U.S. embassies and other State Department facilities.

This was a reversal of the Biden State Department’s 2021 authorization which permitted LGBT flags to be flown at government buildings.

Conclusion

Some may say this move means nothing, when in actuality, it means everything. The message the U.S. conveys to the world is significant. Afterall, the U.S. is still the world’s “superpower” which means she is a leader and how she leads is an example to other nations.

Ensuring the U.S. is not the dispenser of ideologically and morally corrupt messaging restores back to her the place of a true leader. Though America isn’t perfect, upholding and displaying her moral compass in this was is important to the nations who follow her lead.

And in the world of “woke,” tackling this low hanging fruit is critical.
