Prayer Will Return to America’s Schools!

The reintroduction of prayer into the nation’s schools was one of the significant shifts president-elect Donald Trump promised to make in his agenda for overhauling the education system.

In his announcement, Trump stated how, “The United States spends more money on education than any other country in the world and yet, we get the worst outcome,” and how his agenda was going to change the trajectory of the nation’s failing school system.

He also went on to point out one of the primary reasons for America’s failing schools; woke ideology, painting it as a target of his administration.

“Rather than indoctrinating young people with inappropriate racial, sexual and political material … our schools must be totally refocused to prepare our children to succeed in the world of work, life, and to keep our country strong, so they can grow up to be happy prosperous and independent citizens,” Trump stated.

This new plan to dismantle the U.S. indoctrination system focuses around these 10 ideas:

1. Respect the rights of parents to control the education of their children.
2. Empowering parents and local school boards to hire and reward great principles and teachers and to also fire the poor ones, the one whose performance is unsatisfactory.
3. Ensure classrooms aren’t focused on political indoctrination but on teaching the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. Reading, writing, math, science, arithmetic, and other useful subjects.
4. Teach students to have a love of country and not to hate their country as they are taught to at present.
5. Bringing prayer back into America’s schools.
6. Achieve schools that are safe, secure and drug free with immediate expulsion for students who harms a teacher or another student.
7. Give all parents the right to choose another school for their children if they want. Aka, school choice.
8. Ensure students have access to project based learning experiences inside the classroom.
9. Strive to ensure students have access to internships and work experiences that could set them on a path towards their first job.
10. Ensure all schools provide excellent jobs and career counseling so high school and college aged Americans can get a head start.

In addition to these ideas which will materialize into policies, Trump also announced that very early in his administration, he would be closing the Department of Education and sending all the educational work and needs back to the states.

This is a move made with good reason too as Trump went on to say, “We spend more money per pupil, three times more than any other nation, and yet we’re at the bottom, we’re one of the worst.”

“We’re going to end education coming out of Washington D.C.”

Conclusion

These ideals will indeed impact America’s school system.

From prayer in schools to the acknowledgment that parents, not politicians or bureaucrats, have the right to determine their child’s education, Americans will benefit from these shifts in policy.

As believers, we can be grateful for this agenda but we must also watch for the content of the policies themselves to be produced and be the extra layer of oversight.

We must be wise.

Just because the ideas which inform the creation of policies sound good, we must be the ones who stand in defense of our families first and foremost and then for our nations, and in having a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to government promises we are being good stewards of the influence we have in the realm of government.
