FEMA Avoided Trump Supporter's Homes - Encounter Today - Blog

“Avoid homes advertising for Trump” in Florida with signs supporting President-elect Donald Trump, a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supervisor told disaster relief workers.

Marn’i Washington, the FEMA official in question, issued a “best practices” memo to other FEMA employees where she advised to “avoid” homes favorable to Trump.

Washington again gave the order in a chat on Microsoft Teams chat that was used by relief workers who were in Lake Placid canvassing after Hurricane Milton hit Florida.

According to the Daily Wire who first reported the story, the order came up second in a list that instructed workers not to go “anywhere alone,” and amongst other pointers, how to practice “de-escalation.”

Around 20 homes were passed over the course of half a month from the end of October and into November due to the display of flags and signs which signaled support for the President-elect. These revelations came thanks to FEMA employees who spoke with the Daily Wire.

Houses that were skipped prompted workers to post messages in FEMA’s tracking system which read, “Trump sign no entry per leadership.”

As a result of Washington’s directive to discriminate against these residents, they were denied the opportunity to sign up for federal FEMA disaster relief assistance.

Governor Ron DeSantis commented on X stating that this was that “blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists in the federal bureaucracy is yet another reason why the Biden-Harris administration is in its final days.”

A FEMA spokesperson addressed the issue saying that the agency was “deeply disturbed by this employee’s actions.”

“FEMA helps all survivors regardless of their political preference or affiliation and we are deeply disturbed by this employee’s actions,” they told the New York Post.

“While we believe this is an isolated incident, we have taken measures to remove the employee from their role and are investigating the matter to prevent this from happening ever again,” they added.

“The employee who issued this guidance had no authority and was given no direction to tell teams to avoid these homes, and we are reaching out to the people who may have not been reached as a result of this incident.”

“We are horrified that this took place and therefore have taken extreme actions to correct this situation and have ensured that the matter was addressed at all levels,” they stated.
