Silent Prayer Now A Criminal Offence In Scotland
In a striking move that breaches the God given right to free speech, Scotland has implemented a law that not only establishes a 200-metre “safe access zone” around abortion facilities but criminalizes prayer within your own home!
Outrage broke out online, particularly over this law’s implications for free speech and the right to peacefully express and carry out one’s beliefs within the confines of their own home.
Utterly mental, in Scotland if you’re a resident within a 200-metre “safe access zone” near an abortion clinic, you can be prosecuted in your own home for simply praying out loud or in your own head. pic.twitter.com/vUEAOLdBt4

Under the new law called The Abortion Services Act 2024, individuals praying silently within a designated “safe access zone,” in their homes or in their own cars with the windows down, could face the alarming prospect of prosecution.
This unprecedented measure highlights a troubling trend throughout the UK towards the criminalization of many dissenting opinions the government finds threatening, especially regarding sensitive social and spiritual issues like abortion.

“The fact that they're comfortable with finding people who've said something that they disagree with and putting them in a f—king cage in England in 2024 is really wild.”

“This sinister and deeply Orwellian guidance suggests that the buffer zone legislation could be used to control and regulate religious activity on private property,” said Michael Robinson of The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children.
The right to free speech is a cornerstone of a democratic society, yet this law effectively punishes individuals for their personal beliefs that are expressed on private property!

John is dead right. The proponent of the Bill, @GillianMacMSP, even admitted as much in a tweet from March:
"Safe Access Zones must be the first step in advancing [reproductive] rights in Scotland." pic.twitter.com/ukghhX8Kyg
Supporters of the law argue that it is necessary to protect individuals seeking abortions from potential distress. This justification, however, doesn’t hold up under scrutiny when we consider the broader implications for civil liberties.
The right to pray, whether alone or in the presence of others, should never be subject to criminal penalties.
This law sets a dangerous precedent that could lead to further restrictions on free expression in other contexts. The potential for abuse of this law cannot be overlooked.
By allowing authorities to prosecute individuals for their private thoughts or prayers, a door is opened to a chilling environment where citizens may self-censor out of fear of legal repercussions.
This is not merely about abortion; it’s about the fundamental rights that underpin our society.
As Scotland navigates this contentious issue, it is crucial to engage in a thoughtful dialogue that respects the rights of all citizens.
Speaking against abortion IN YOUR OWN HOME with your window open can be considered a criminal offence in parts of Scotland.

This is absolute tyranny. pic.twitter.com/A4gku7RNrb
In conclusion, the 200-metre safe access zone law in Scotland represents a dystopian shift towards the suppression of free speech whilst presenting a bleak outlook on the future of private property ownership.
Moving forward, it is imperative that those in America learn from these human rights abuses happening abroad in order that we might defend our own rights to freely speak and pray and express their beliefs openly and without fear of prosecution.
