CDC 3.3% Of Teens Identify As Trans - Encounter Today - Blog

Roughly 3.3 percent of high school students in America now identify as “transgender”, with an additional 2.2 percent questioning their gender identity, according to a recent CDC survey.

This is clearly a cry for help!

The CDC’s 2023 study found that children who identify as transgender and gender-questioning experience significantly higher rates of bullying, persistent sadness, and suicidal thoughts.

One in four students who say they’re “trans” have reported attempting suicide in the past year, compared to 11 percent of healthy girls and 5 percent of boys.

“We have 5 percent of young people in the country who, because of the way they identify around their gender, are stigmatized, bullied, made to feel unsafe, feel disconnected at school and consequently have poorer mental health and higher risk for suicide than their cisgender peers,” said Kathleen Ethier, director of C.D.C.’s adolescent and school health division.

“That’s just heartbreaking.”

What is even more heartbreaking is how this crisis is being fueled by lies pushed in our children’s classrooms and through every other means of communication.

The survey revealed that roughly 70 percent of students who identify as “trans” reported feelings of persistent sadness or hopelessness for over two weeks, compared to 50 percent of healthy girls and 26 percent of healthy boys.

Additionally, 10 percent of students who say they identify as “trans” sought medical treatment for a suicide attempt, compared to 2.6 percent of healthy girls and 1 percent of healthy boys.

Students who struggle with their identity were also more likely to experience bullying and isolation, with only 37 percent feeling close to others at school, compared to 62 percent of boys and about half of girls. They were also five times as likely to report unstable housing.

Interestingly, one of the “doctors” involved in the study stated that, “What we’re finding is that when you don’t create safe and supportive school environments for the most vulnerable youth, it has an impact on their mental health and their suicidal thoughts and behaviors.”

This couldn’t be further from the truth!

A “safe” environment isn’t one which perpetuates a lie, it is one that will speak truth!

Schools are actually a part of the problem as to why we see an increase in the mental health decline in this country. How are children supposed to be healthy when those who are supposed to look out for their well being affirm a deadly lie?

In conclusion, we must understand that everything is spiritual. When we have this as our foundation, we understand that children are being targeted because of their vulnerability and their value to God.

Children are looking for belonging and identity and love, all of which can only be found in a relationship with Christ and not in a lie.
