Hebrew Year 5785 Meaning - Encounter Today - Blog

This year is critical for Christians and not for reasons you might think.

This year’s significance isn’t solely because there is an election but due to it being year 5785 in the Hebraic calendar.

This is a year marked by grace, redemption, and transformation.

It is important to note how the Hebrew calendar is not like the Gregorian calendar. This is important to understand seeing as God speaks differently to His covenant people through celestial markers.

In a recent message delivered by Pastor Troy Brewer, he explains why this number of 5785 is of such importance, beginning with the explanation that Hebrew letters possess numerical values.

Brewer states that 85 carries prophetic weight as the combination of 80 and five represent the letters “pey” and “hey.”

“Pey” symbolizes the mouth, and “hey” signifies breath and grace.

“It’s the mouth to mouth, it’s the two-edged sword,” Brewer states, communicating how speaking life is of divine importance in this season.

The Biblical significance of the number five is also intricately tied into grace and repentance.

“A big part of the hey or the emphasis of the number five in the word of God has to do with repentance and grace—the grace of God to be able to repent,” he says.

Grace is God’s empowerment for every believer.

The year 5785 is also a moment in time for all believers to seize “Kairos,” or divine opportunities, Brewer says.

Rabbi David Landry has also spoken on the significance of the Hebraic year 5785 as being “the year of the king-priest anointing.”

Landry believes this year is one that will set the foundation for the next decade, highlighting how important the Jewish fall feasts are in this prophetic season.

“The fall feasts—Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot—are God’s appointed times for us to reflect, repent and reset,” he says.

“These are not just Jewish traditions … but divine appointments for everyone in God’s kingdom. By observing them, you position yourself to hear from the Lord more clearly and receive the provision He has stored up for you in this new year.”

“5785 is a year where God’s people will be empowered with authority, just like King David,” Landry says.

“We are being anointed to reign and to serve, to lead with wisdom and govern with grace.”

The king-priest anointing carries with it great responsibilities that are seen in both the practical and spiritual.

Referencing a prophetic word he received at the top of this year, Landry continues on stating that this year on the Hebraic calendar will be distinguished by anointing kings and priests for God’s kingdom:

“The Lord is raising up those who will walk in power and authority like never before. They will be kings in their workplaces and priests in their homes, anointed to reclaim what the enemy has stolen.”

Amen!

Conclusion

Clearly, this is a year unlike ever before.

Every believer has the opportunity to step into the authority and power as discussed above, and to do so, there must be a consecration.

Consecration isn’t a word we use often in today’s word but it simply means to dedicate oneself to living pure and holy and upright, to be set apart.

This is critical in these last days as Christ says in the Bible that He is returning for a pure and spotless bride.

So as we await His soon return, we dedicate ourselves to not only paying attention to the signs of the times, but to remaining steadfast in our commitment to meeting Him on that day of His return as His holy, set apart people.
