Gen-Z Men Going To Church More - Encounter Today - Blog

For the first time in modern American history, church attendance in young Gen Z men is increasing.

A recent study by the New York Times revealed that not only are young men attending church services more often but they are also more likely to identify as religious.

Despite overall church attendance dropping over the last several decades, there is an undeniable spiritual hunger amongst the next generation.

Another fascinating point to highlight in this conversation is how secularization rose exponentially between 1990 and 2020. Now, however, it’s slowing significantly.

That’s a really big deal says Ryan Burge, Director of Research at My Faith Counts.

In comparison to Millennials, Gen Z’s church attendance looks identical whilst religious importance only differs by about five percentage points.

Burge also found that “religious attendance is actually *increasing* among men. Weekly attendance is the lowest among men born in the 1970s (~22%). Among college aged men, ~26% attend weekly.”

Interestingly, for women born between 1980 and 2000, there’s been next to no change in frequency of attendance.

Conclusion

Whilst many are saying Christianity is dead and there’s no hope for this next generation due to the increase in perversity, I beg to differ and now there are stats to prove this hope!

When young people have a strong faith in Christ, it doesn’t just affect their own lives and spheres of influence as it also positively impacts the moral and spiritual fabric of a nation!

A generation grounded in Christian values is more likely to promote justice, compassion, and integrity, addressing societal issues with a sense of purpose and hope.

We hear a lot about “transformative change” these days from many who have a warped idea of justice and for those of us who are in the family of God we know that true transformation of a society comes by way of individual hearts being transformed by the truth of the Gospel and young people in church is a strong indicator of a shift taking place in our society.

In an increasingly secular world, the faith of this next generation is essential for shaping a future that honors God and reflects the principles of the Kingdom here on earth.

Active involvement in church and society not only strengthens our personal faith but it also lays a foundation for a more resilient and faith-oriented nation.
