Muslims Taking Over Congress?
Nihad Awad, the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), who expressed he was “happy” that Gazans “broke the siege” on October 7, recently forecasted that 40-50 Muslims could be elected to the United States Congress within the next decade.
Last month, Awad was at an Islamic center in Texas where he delivered a sermon calling for an organized defense of Islam in the public square: “Muslims must dedicate professional resources to inform the public systematically about this faith.”
This was a concerning statement on multiple fronts seeing as he stands in support of Hamas who stands in opposition to our closest ally, Israel.
This Muslim leader’s support of Hamas isn’t anything new, but it did cause us to look deeper into the CAIR executive’s past and we found an equally concerning statement.
Back in 1994, Awad expressed how he was “in support of the Hamas movement more than the PLO [Palestine Liberation Organization].”
CAIR defended Awad by noting that this comment was made before CAIR was established, that “Hamas did not commit its first suicide bombing until October 1994,” and that “Awad and CAIR have consistently denounced violence by Hamas.”
However, with his most recent statements in favor of the terrorist attacks against Israel by Hamas on October 7th, CAIR’s previous statements hold zero meaning.
Last November, Awad stated how, “The people of Gaza only decided to break the siege, the walls of the concentration camp, on October 7th.”
“And yes, I was happy to see people breaking the siege and throwing down the shackles of their own land, and walk free into their land, that they were not allowed to walk in.”
He characterized the massacre of Israelis as self-defense—a right Gazans have but Israelis do not, saying:
“And yes, the people of Gaza have the right to self-defense, have the right to defend themselves, and yes, Israel, as an occupying power, does not have that right to self-defense.”
Surprisingly, the Biden administration issued criticism of Awad’s statements.
Beware Of CAIR
CAIR has a long history of affiliation with the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah with many of its members and leadership defending their actions in Gaza.
According to a report by the Investigative Project on Terrorism, evidence was uncovered by the FBI that found CAIR had a place in the “Palestine Committee,” a Muslim Brotherhood-created network which sought to assist Hamas in the United States.
In 2009, US District Court Judge Jorge Solis ruled that there is “at least a prima facie case as to CAIR’s involvement in a conspiracy to support Hamas.”
Equally concerning is the support and amplification of CAIR’s messaging by sitting members of Congress such as Ilhan Omar who has spoken at CAIR events and was given the “American Muslim Public Servant Aware” in 2021.
The ties between this group, which was officially designated a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates in 2014, and those in our government, should cause us all to stop and question the associations of our political leaders.
Perspective
We know that the Word of God clearly states that we become like those we spend time with, and whilst this applies to our own lives it equally applies to those in government, thus, his is just one major red flag for our elected officials who choose to be in association with CAIR.
In addition to this point, for any sitting politician to be working with a group who so clearly and adherently detests Israel, a people who we are instructed to support as believers, is cause for us to speak out.
We are a nation founded upon Judeo Christian values and principles, a nation who understands that standing with Israel is standing in alignment with God’s Word and we know that this brings a blessing upon our nation for it is obedience to God.
In conclusion, for CAIR and those politicians working alongside them to see a large voting block come into fruition in our federal governing body who hates God’s people, we should all be aware that such a threat exists and second to this, we should all be spurred to action in the political realm so as to defend our nation and our families from such an ideology that would seek to snuff out the Gospel and destroy our closest ally, Israel.
