Sports Leagues Reject LGBT Movement
This year, several of America’s major sports leagues have rejected the celebration of the LGBT movement.
During the month of June, which has become known as “Pride month,” many sports teams chose to pander to the woke mob by changing their logos on social media to hosting rainbows, a perversion of a sign given to humanity by God which is a visible display of His promise that He would never again flood the earth again (Genesis 9:12-17).
In what appears to be an attempt by major sports leagues to keep their profit margins high and consistent, many have chosen not to take part in the glorification of sin this month.
Although we cannot speak to the absolute intent behind their lack of participation in a movement which they once supported, it is very possible that the NHL, NFL, NBA and MLS are desperate to ensure their consumer base remains intact instead of triggering their consumer base with unnecessary and extremely divisive branding.
The only major sports league to engage with the LGBT movement this June is Major League Baseball, but even that wasn’t for very long as after a short period of time their fans expressed deep disapproval which caused the league to swiftly abandon their pandering.
As the MLB’s acknowledgment of “Pride month,” they posted that “Baseball is everyone’s game,” to which reporters wrote that, “People lost their mind.”
The comment section of the post was filled to the brim with negative replies criticizing the statement.
Some wrote “Get back to baseball, clowns” whilst others said the MLB should “Just play ball!” In yet another comment, someone simply stated that this move by the League was “Demonic.” This comment alone received over 30,000 likes overnight.
Meanwhile, over in the NFL, a third of the league decided to forgo the celebration of LGBT lifestyles by remaining silent upon the calendar flipping to June 1st.
11 NFL teams bucked the trend which stands in stark contrast to just a couple years ago.
Further to these two leagues is the NHL who experienced some of the most intense pushback from their fans out of any sports league.
Last year, teams within the NHL saw a league-wide rebellion over the introduction of rainbow jerseys. Dozens of players in the league said no to parading around as billboards for the devastatingly life altering lifestyle whilst many in the NBA took the same route of rejection.
There is something happening across sports in general too, as the logos which once turned from normal to degenerate have remained on brand. Some of these leagues include, but are not limited to: NASCAR, MMA, WWE, Lacrosse, and the PGA Tour.
Sports leagues sitting out of quite possibly the most divisive issue in the culture wars is a smart move seeing as their participation dearly hurts their bottom line, and on a more personal level, it will most certainly affect the morale of those who work within the leagues themselves who hold to a different worldviews.
The pushback against wokeism is growing in these United States of America and many are being emboldened to take a stand.
The rejection of perversion, even if it is in sports, is a win in and of itself!
Bringing back a standard begins with each one of us living as we are called to by God and that includes the rejection of sin.
Politics is downstream from culture, so could it be that this is a sign of a swinging back of the pendulum towards a moral standard within society?
If this month, with what it has become known for, is experiencing the rejection it is from individuals to industries, we would most certainly say so!
