Elon Musk Welcomes P*rn on X
Elon Musk has updated his platform known as X to allow pornography onto his free speech platform.
This change officially allows adult, consensually-produced and distributed pornography which includes AI-generated media, so long as it is “properly labeled and not prominently displayed.”
This shift in policy has anti-pornography advocates raising concerns surrounding the company’s recently changed terms of service.

The policy update falls in line with Musk’s previous experiments which has the potential to lead to new services similar to OnlyFans.
According to the host of The Roundtable Show, Mario Nawfal, “regulators are expected to scrutinize X’s handling of non-consensual content and child sexual abuse material.”
“Sexual expression, whether visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression,” the platform’s policy states.
“We believe in the autonomy of adults to engage with and create content that reflects their own beliefs, desires, and experiences, including those related to sexuality.”
Any pornographic content which is exploitative, non consensual or promotes objectification, will still be prohibited on the platform, along with any obscene behaviors or the sexualization or harm displayed occurring to children.
The policy also stipulates that so-called “adult content” will be prevented from being used for profile pictures, banners and other publicly visible places.
Pearl Davis, an internet personality, raised the question of having a possible “porn free mode” on the platform to which Musk responded that this was a “top priority” for the company and is actively being worked on.

In response to concerns about X allowing Adult Content, Pearl Davis (@pearlythingz) asked Elon:
"Hey Elon, if you're going to allow porn, would it be possible to have a function that allows us to use X without being exposed to it?… https://t.co/utljjlpQoI pic.twitter.com/oQsATd6l6s
“Adult content” is defined by X as any depiction of “full or partial nudity, including close-ups of genitals, buttocks, or breasts.” Explicit or implied sexual behavior or simulated acts like sexual intercourse are also considered adult content.
All users of the platform who are under 18 years of age, or viewers who do not provide a birth date for their profile, will be unable to click to view posts marked as adult content, as per the policy update.
The addition of a one-time warning on individual posts by users is encouraged by X. Those who fail to mark posts with “adult content” will have their account settings adjusted.
During the rebranding process of the company formerly known as Twitter back in 2022, porn was allowed on its platform.
Roughly 13% of all the content present on X is featured adult content, according to a report by Reuters.
Perspective
One interesting point of this new policy language comes by way of the use of the term “adult content.”
Regarding this term, we all know that there are things adults can take in and understand which are not suitable for children. However, as believers, we should be asking ourselves the question – what does that even mean for us as adults?
Looking beyond the situation at present, we should be questioning – why does “adult content” have to be degrading, explicit and hyper sexualized?
Is that really “adult content” or is it really just perverted content?
Sex is sacred and it is a good thing – God did create it after all.
But just as with everything in this fallen world, the enemy of our souls has sought to pervert that which God created for our good.
The corrosion of sexuality goes so deep as it touches our very identity.
Of course, governments can step up and do better with regards to their own policies surrounding the access and distribution of pornography online, we all know this. But is all the responsibility solely on the government? Do we even want it to all fall upon their shoulders?
No, we shouldn’t be desirous of this.
Living a life of respect and honor and glorifying God must be established in the family home so that in our own individual lives, as parents and children of every nation, we desire to live based upon our convictions which are to be founded upon the Word of God.
So whether it be “adult content” or any other form of perversion we are faced with, we are called to avoid even the appearance of evil (1 Thess 5:22) and the perversion of sex, the degrading of our sexuality and human dignity as a whole are all evil.
As such, utilizing the “porn free mode” on X will be one method of protecting ourselves whilst also protecting others.
Thank you for your support.
