Iran Vs. Israel: Could We Be Witnessing A 2500 Year Old Prophecy Coming To Pass? Part 2
The second scripture is found in Ezekiel 38 and verse 13. Ezekiel mentions Tarshish in his prophecy concerning the battle of Gog and Israel. Tarshish is often times used as a term to refer to the most western nation of the earth. In Ezekiel’s world, the most western nation would have been Spain.
It would be a mistake to assume Ezekiel is mentioning America in this passage of Scripture, simply because the Bible is silent on this matter.
Where the Bible is silent, remain silent. Wherever the Bible speaks, speak boldly on the matter. “Tarshish, with all her little lions…” A reference is made to the little lions of Tarshish in Ezekiel 38:13 and some have taken this and stretched it out like a Margherita pizza dough.
Theological gymnastics is an art and some are better at it than others. Essentially, their argument is that since England has as its emblematic animal, the lion, the young lions are a reference to the colonial nations planted by her. This would include, Canada, U.S.A, Australia, New Zealand, etc… Once again, it is extremely unwise and quite dangerous to insert your imagination into scriptures in order to back up your point.
The final scriptures are found in the book of Revelation chapters 17 and 18. There have been attempts to try and connect Babylon and the great city to the United States and New York City, specifically.
However, an honest reading of the text reveals that the Babylon John is seeing in his vision is clearly the original Babylon located by the Euphrates as seen in Genesis 10-11. This would be more clearly understood to be modern day Iraq.
So why is America mysteriously absent from final Bible prophecy given the geopolitical power and global influence it still holds today? There are 4 popular opinions on this.
- God simply chose to exempt America’s influence in the last days.
God certainly has no obligation to include America in the Bible given that the focus of Bible prophecy is Jesus and Jerusalem. However, I do not think this position is feasible because God is a God of great detail, especially when dealing with prophecy.
2. America will fall from battle.
America is the only nation to ever have sown nuclear weapons, could it be that America’s absence in the final chapters of history is explained by a nuclear war that would wipe out the United States as we know it. This is possible, but I do believe there is a better explanation.
3. America will fall from within.
America will plunge herself into a third world nation by voting politicians in who will sign laws into motion designed to make sin prevalent in the nation. Through moral and spiritual deterioration, America will fall to the principle of Scripture, “Whoever sows to the flesh, will reap corruption.” (Galatians 6:8)
4. America will become a third world nation overnight immediately following the rapture of the Church.
I believe this to be the best answer as to why America is suspiciously absent from the pages of final Bible prophecy. With 80 to 90 million evangelical Christians in America, if the rapture occurred today, it would bankrupt our society. Factories would lose large chunks of their workforce overnight causing a halt to production. Stock markets would crash to worse than depression levels. Mortgages would be left unpaid and cause a banking collapse on the system. Islamic nations and most of other nations wouldn’t nearly be as affected as the United States Of America. This would cause a major push within America towards an amalgamation with a European, globalist movement such as N.A.T.O or the U.N..
Why is this important to the war going on in Israel today?
America is historically Israel’s greatest ally. In recent times, there have been less pro-Israel politicians walking around D.C..
The stage is quickly being set for the battle mentioned in Ezekiel 38.
In the battle of Gog against Israel, Israel is left without any allies. She is said to be a sitting duck in the middle east, without walls and living in a time of relative safety before the invasion. America is not mentioned by name, but Russia (Rosh), Iran (Persia), Libya and Sudan are mentioned by name.
On October 7th, 2023, when Hamas invaded Israel in a surprise attack, mercilessly murdering citizens in peace, it kicked something into motion that could certainly escalate into the battle we read about in Ezekiel 38-39.
Who is Hamas’ main finance and weapons provider? Iran. We just witnessed Iran actively get sucked into this battle a few days ago.
The battle of Ezekiel 38 is said to be led by “Gog, of the land of Magog, the PRINCE OF ROSH.” (Ezekiel 38:2) Rosh, as previously mentioned is modern day Russia.
So this battle God revealed to Ezekiel will be led by a Russian leader. It will be spearheaded by Russia who will drag her allies into the war. Gog is not to be understood as a political figure’s personal name, but rather should be interpreted by its significance. Gog literally means a high mountain, or can also be interpreted as ‘supreme leader’.
So there will be a supreme leader from Russia who will lead a coalition of troops right down into Israel’s territory with blood on his mind.
Interestingly enough, the Bible also prophesy’s an army of 200 million men who will come through a dried up Euphrates river and march into Israel for battle. Guess which river has been drying up mysteriously for the first time in recorded history? The Euphrates.
We are literally watching the Bible play out before our eyes as if it were a Channel 10 News segment.
The Bible says that God will put a hook in this Russian leader’s jaw and draw him out to battle. With Iran’s recent involvement in this war in Israel, the October 7th drama certainly did not de-escalate at all. There is no doubt that Russia has its hands full with its war on Ukraine.
However, given the recent developments in the middle east, it isn’t far fetched to think that Russia could set its eyes on joining its ally Iran in the holy war against Israel. Could it be that we are seeing the stage set for what will eventually escalate into the battle mention in Ezekiel?
Could it be that we may be witnessing the full ‘World War’ that has Israel as its battleground?
Now, I want to make this clear: I am not the boy who called wolf. I am not a doomsday prophet always sounding false alarms of apocalyptic level events. Although it is important to note that God gave us these prophecies, not for our mere entertainment but to advise us, and to warn us of the season that we are living in.
Can we conclusively, and unequivocally declare that are we witnessing the beginnings of the battle mentioned in Ezekiel 38?
Nobody who is sensible and honest could ever give you a definite answer to that. Most reputable teachers in eschatology would place the battle somewhere between the period immediately following the rapture OR at the middle point of the Great Tribulation.
Regardless of when it happens, the events that we are witnessing unfold should act as a warning to most: If there were ever a time to have peace with God and know beyond shadow of a doubt that you’re on your way to heaven with your sins forgiven, it is NOW!
Jesus certainly made His point when He said that no man would know the day or the hour of His return. However, He did make it clear that there would be signs of the season.
Whether this is the battle of Gog against Israel or not, the recent escalation of war in the middle east is a prophetic siren. I’ll say it again: America, nor Canada are the center of Bible prophecy.
If you want to know what God is doing prophetically upon the earth, we have to set our eyes on the holy city of Jerusalem. It is Zion: the city of the Great King. I’ll add this in as a bonus: God made a covenant with Israel declaring that when He planted her back in her rightful land, no other nation would ever successfully remove her from it.
“Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem will also be against Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it. On that day, declares the LORD, I will strike every horse with panic, and its rider with madness. But for the sake of the house of Judah I will keep my eyes open, when I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. Then the clans of Judah shall say to themselves, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength through the LORD of hosts, their God.’ (Zechariah 12:2-4)
The devil is working hard to mobilize forces that would drive the Jewish people out of the holy land allotted to them by God Himself, because if this were to happen, it would make God’s covenant false and make Him out to be a liar. Yet, the covenant of God cannot be broken! The Jewish people don’t just have a legal right to that plot of land in the middle east, they have a divine right that cannot be revoked.
If you are ready to repent of sin and give your life to Jesus Christ, He will save you right now. You don’t have to go to a devil’s hell. Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people. Pray this prayer with me from the depths of your heart:
“Father, I come to you in humility and faith. I know that I am a sinner and I need your mercy. I believe that You raised Jesus from the dead and I confess that Jesus is Lord of my life. I repent of sin and renounce this fallen world, along with its system. I receive Christ into my heart. Wash me with your blood. Forgive me of all sin. Fill me with your power and grace so that I may live for you and your purposes. With your help, I will stand strong until the end. In Jesus name, Amen.
