GOP Candidate Torches LGBTQ+ Books
Missouri Republican candidate for Secretary of State, Valentina Gomez, took a flamethrower to radical LBGTQ books in a campaign video on X.
Unsurprisingly, the incineration of these materials sparked outrage as it was an example of what she would do to rid public libraries of “grooming” books if elected.
The 24-year-old Republican stated that, “When I’m Secretary of State, I will BURN all books that are grooming, indoctrinating, and sexualizing our children.”

In between bursts of flames, Gomez stated that, “This is what I will do to grooming books when I become secretary of state… These books come from a Missouri Public Library,” she said as the books were burned beyond recognition, “When I am in office, they will burn.”
Gomez destroyed the Naked: Not Your Average Sex Encyclopedia by Myriam Daguzan Bernier and Queer, 2nd Edition: The Ultimate LGBTQ Guide for Teens by Kathy Belge and Marke Bieschke.
X has restricted the post’s visibility for violating the platforms rules against “hateful conduct.”
Gomez joins the fresh batch of candidates, new and old, running for office who have put forward policies to rid public libraries and other institutions like schools of radical gender ideology.
Since 2021, 40+ states, including Missouri, have passed bills to prohibit gender ideology and critical race theory from being taught or provided in public schools.
Though some were triggered by this creative publicity stunt, it served its purpose and clearly got the message across. This 24-year-old candidate means business and gives hope that the next wave of political candidates on the right of the aisle are going to take a strong, unapologetic stand in defense of conservative values.
