TX Governor Defends State’s Right to Self Defense From “Lawless” Biden

TX Governor Defends State's Right to Self-Defense From Lawless Biden - Encounter Today - Blog

Texas Governor Greg Abbott proclaimed that Texas’s right to self-defense “supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary” amidst the state’s intense battle over border security with the Biden administration.

The statement was issued whilst tensions are growing during a standoff over razor wire Texas put in place across the US-Mexico border despite the US Supreme Court ruling the federal government could remove the barrier.

Governor Abbott said, “Visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that states should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border.

Due to the federal government’s failure in their duty to provide security for Americans which includes defending Texas from the invasion of illegal migrants, hundreds of which are known terrorists, Abbott argues the state has the “constitutional authority to defend” itself.

“That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary,” Abbott expressed.

“James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats.”

This week, the Supreme Court determined in a 5-4 ruling that federal agents can remove the razor wire Texas placed in heavily trafficked sections of the southern border.

President Biden’s administration argued this authority was necessary so border officials responding to medical and other emergencies aren’t impeded by the fencing.

Governors from Montana, Florida, South Dakota, Virginia, Georgia, and Oklahoma have all voiced their support for the decision Texas made to defend itself.

There is additional cause for concern over the flood of illegals coming across the United States southern border not only because there is an increase in known terrorists crossing, but the increasing levels of human trafficking occurring.

Despite President Biden declaring January to be “Human Trafficking Awareness Month,” each year since he has been in office, the number of illegal migrants invading the country has been on a dramatic incline from 1.7 million in 2021 to 2.4 million in 2022 to 2.5 million in 2023.

Last September, the Justice Department sued Texas over its use of a floating barrier in the Rio Grande, however, Texas obtained a victory from an appeals court on this matter.

Biden’s open border policy not only negatively impacts the lives of American citizens in Texas but impacts Americans all across the country, as well as those being trafficked into the nation.

The number one priority of the federal government is national defense. The Biden Administration would do well to remember this. (edited)
