Saudi Arabia Wants Peace with Israel, Calls For Two-State “Solution”
One condition – that’s what stands in the way of normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel post the October 7th massacre committed by Hamas.
The condition posed by Saudi Arabia? According to the country’s ambassador to the UK, the creation of a Palestinian State. He also confirmed that the two countries were close to reaching an agreement before the October 7 attacks.
In September of 2023, Saudi’s Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman said “every day” the country was getting closer to a deal with the Jewish State.
Discussing the foundation for an agreement, Saudi’s ambassador said, “For us, the final endpoint definitely included nothing less than an independent state of Palestine. So, while we still – going forward after 7 October – believe in normalization, it does not come at the cost of the Palestinian people,” adding that, “One doesn’t come without the other.”
Prince Khalid stated the country should, “treat Israel the same way it treats everyone else,” and that the, “blind spot towards Israel is a real problem because it provides a blind spot to peace.”
Just this week, American Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Saudi Arabia speaking to reporters about the “interest” both Saudi and other Arab neighbors of Israel have in normalizing ties but refused to move forward with the process without the creation of a “Palestinian state.”
In an official readout of a State Department briefing it was claimed that Secretary Blinken stated, “With regard to integration, to normalization, yes, we talked about that actually on every stop, including of course here in Saudi Arabia,” he continued, “There’s a clear interest here in pursuing that …. But it will require that the conflict end in Gaza, and it will also clearly require that there be a practical pathway to a Palestinian state.”
Secretary Blinken also told journalists that the leaders he met with in Israel’s Muslim neighboring governments agreed “that Israel and Israelis should be able to live in peace and security” and that both the West Bank and Gaza “should be united under Palestinian-led governance.”
Currently, the West Bank is controlled by the Palestinian Authority, while Gaza is under the control of Hamas.
In 2022, Biden reinvigorated a policy to divvy up the land of Israel, ignoring the biblical warnings against it (Joel 3).
“The Palestinian people deserve a state of their own – sovereign, vibrant, and contiguous,” Biden said. At the time, he also made a point to re-establish U.S. relations with the Palestinian Authority and demonstrated that commitment with $201 million in aid which President Trump had halted.
In 2022, 400 rabbis signed a public statement discouraging a two-state solution and displayed how every time Israel relinquished land for peace, it led to increased terrorism and the killing of innocent civilians.
Perspective
All the efforts to fortify Gaza and establish a so-called “Palestinian state” are futile and God clearly warns about dividing the land He gave to the Jewish people.
Know that “peace” is not the primary purpose of establishing a two-state solution, but what it would inevitably establish is a strategic vantage point to assist Israel’s foes with and it could even potentially be the beginnings of the war found in Ezekiel 38.
The destruction of Israel and her people cannot happen however, as Israel has promises from God of her divine protection (Zechariah 2:8, Deut 32:11-12, Deut 33:29, Isaiah 46:4b).
From the beginning, God promised Abraham “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse, and all peoples on Earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:2-3). This is a promise for all believers that blessings follow those who bless Israel.
Zechariah 9 predicts the fall of the leadership of Gaza in a conflict between Syria and Lebanon (Tyre and Sidon) and includes the freedom of captives from their prisons.
God Himself established Israel’s boundaries as we see before Joshua ever entered the promised land, God decreed: “Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory” (Joshua 1:3-4).
Whilst we pray for the peace of the whole nation of Israel, we can also find reassurance from Psalm 121:4-5; 7 which says, “Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you — the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The Lord will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life.”
The world isn’t falling apart, it’s simply falling into place.
