Secret Synagogue Tunnels Discovered, Riots Break Out
Secret tunnels beneath a historic Brooklyn synagogue that were constructed by a group of young Hasidic Jewish men were discovered, Chabad leaders chose to have them filled in with cement.
A video surfaced on Instagram this week of the illegal tunnels showing the secret passage ways. One tunnel lead to a dirt-filled room where a grate had been removed from the wall of the building, which is adjacent to the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters. From there, a 50 foot tunnel leads to an abandoned men’s ritual bath.
The underground pathway was discovered after suspicious sounds were being reported by neighbors from underneath their homes.

Another dirt-filled room in yet another adjacent building had clothes, items for children, a mattress and several other items inside that were left behind by those who are a part of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement which had been digging the tunnels.
Apparently, the tunnel was designed to reach the abandoned men’s mikvah a couple of buildings down from the Chabad HQ.
It is yet to be confirmed but it is believed that the tunnels had been under construction for around a year or more, allegedly by members of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement which was headed by the late Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
The synagogue’s leadership requested structural engineers to assess the damage done by the group which prompted them to bring in cement mixers to fill them in which resulted in a riot.
In a desperate and rather dramatic attempt to return to their tunnels and prevent them from being filled with cement, many of those in the group of unruly Orthodox Jewish men were seen trying to disrupt the process. Many were seen jumping over pews in the sanctuary and ripping wood paneling off the walls in order to get into the tunnels before the cement trucks could begin their job.
Rabbi Motti Seligson stated, “Earlier today, a cement truck was brought in to repair those walls. Those efforts were disrupted by the extremists who broke through the wall to the synagogue, vandalizing the sanctuary, in an effort to preserve their unauthorized access.”
Attempting to keep the peace and assist in the tunnels being filled to ensure the building’s structural safety, police sought to hold back dozens of Hasidic Jewish men who fought to gain passage into their 20-foot-wide enclosure.
The individuals involved have been arrested and the building has been closed until a review of its structural safety has been completed. Seligson also stated that “Lubavitch officials have attempted to gain proper control of the premises through the New York State court system; unfortunately, despite consistently prevailing in court, the process has dragged on for years.”
Adding to the craziness of this whole debacle, the Chabad headquarters came out claiming that “the group of young agitators” were “primarily in the U.S. on student visas,” and how, “These individuals have been squatting in the synagogue and attempted to take control by demolishing walls to connect the basement to the adjacent building, intending to ‘expand’ the sanctuary.”
Seligson also confirmed that, “Steps are being taken to revoke their student visas and repatriate them to their countries of origin.”
At this point in time, ten of the men arrested have received criminal misdemeanor charges, whilst one was charged with obstructing governmental administration and another received a summons for disorderly conduct, according to the sources which spoke to The New York Post.
Some have taken to X to express their opinions that the bizarre construction of the tunnels was to facilitate sex trafficking.
Others suggest that there is a connection between the information dump on the elite sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and the (not so close) proximity of the Chabad HQ.
The Chabad headquarters, where they found the tunnels, are less than a mile away from Jeffrey Epstein's former primary residence.

Meanwhile, others like Katherine Brodsky, point to a more logical explanation, “There is, however, evidence that there was a legal (real estate) dispute between Agudas Chassidei Chabad / Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch and Cong. Lubavitch over who is the rightful owner of the 770-788 Eastern Parkway complex. The occam’s razor explanation for the tunnels.”
There's zero evidence these tunnels were used for human trafficking or sex abuse.
