Death, Canada’s “Solution” to Suffering
Recently, I heard of a man in British Columbia, Canada who ended his life by euthanasia after he went 10 weeks without chemotherapy treatment.
After a scan revealed Stage 4 esophageal cancer, Dan Quayle required immediate chemotherapy. Unfortunately, due to Canada’s socialist Healthcare system causing immense backlogs, he was given no timeline for treatment and ultimately resorted to euthanasia to end his suffering.
As someone who worked in the Parliament of Canada when euthanasia and assisted suicide were legalized, hearing the ramifications of such a wicked policy pierces my heart.
Contributing to the sorrow my heart feels, stories coming out of Canada have been making international headlines on how our socialist healthcare system is offering death as a “solution” to our veterans and those suffering from mental illness.
MAID In Canada
What took decades for the Netherlands to achieve with their MAID program took Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau less than a single term in office to push for and implement. Since then, safeguards have been eroded and euthanasia now accounts for 4.1% of all deaths and is the fifth leading cause of death in Canada.
Where Does This Lead Us?
Let’s look at the Netherlands…
Currently, babies in the Netherlands up to one year old can be euthanized whilst children 12 years of age and older can request assisted suicide with parental consent. Recently, the government also agreed that children under the age of 12 years old can apply to have their lives ended if they have a terminal illness.
It’s not a stretch to conclude Canada is on the same trajectory especially after a Parliamentary Committee has concluded that children should be eligible for assisted suicide.
In March, Canada is set to offer death instead of help to people suffering with mental illness.

Experts warn that allowing MAID for mental illness will mean that people who would have gotten better will die instead.

Culture of Death
No issue is disjointed from another. Those who push to end life in the womb are the very ones who ushered in euthanasia and assisted suicide in Canada. Once the door is opened to such inhumane practices, every policy that follows drags a nation down a steep and slippery slope toward the creation of a culture of death.
Perspective
May Canada’s failure to protect the vulnerable serve as a warning for countries currently contemplating the implementation of such policies.
Life is for the living! God wouldn’t have marked us with purpose and given us the promise of abundant life through Jesus if that weren’t the truth.
A confused culture needs to hear of the absoluteness of Christ’s love and the free gift of salvation. This world needs Jesus and he lives on the inside of us, therefore, this world needs you!
We carry the answer to people’s suffering. Love others by being unashamed in sharing it.
“Love is patient, love is kind…. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.” Hebrews 13:16
