Unmasking The Devil’s Deception: Reclaiming Goliath’s Sword For God’s Glory

Spiritual Warfare

In the age of advanced technology and connectivity, the devil has found a potent weapon to wield against society. As Christians, we must be aware of his tactics and recognize how he seeks to use the media and the internet to undermine society’s moral fabric. However, we are not powerless against his schemes. In fact, something is happening right now in the Spirit. God is marshaling His forces from every denomination and from every camp within His Body. He is equipping His Body to reclaim these powerful tools and harness them for His Glory.

The Sword of Goliath

Goliath’s sword, like the media and the internet, represents a weapon that can either bring destruction or victory. Just as Goliath used his sword to intimidate and strike fear into the hearts of God’s people, the devil seeks to use the media and the internet to sow seeds of confusion and moral decay. However, as believers, we have the power to turn this formidable weapon into a tool that advances God’s kingdom.

What was it that killed Goliath? The religious answer is always the same: the stone from David’s sling. Though it certainly played a part, the stone from the sling wasn’t what slew Goliath. Let’s look at it together: So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled (1 Samuel 17:50-51).

Did you see it? David finished Goliath off with his own weapon. David used enemy technology. What the enemy was using to intimidate and harm God’s people, David turned against him. Taking possession of the enemy’s weapons means never allowing them to be used against us or those we love again. Media today is a mighty weapon, and there are too many Christians who have been intimidated by it or are ignorant of its power.

The Power Of The Media

And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea (Acts 8:39-40).

In one moment, Philip was translated more than twenty-five miles away to preach in a different city. Why? God must have needed him there pronto. How many of us would like to be translated so that the Gospel can be preached? Here’s an even more interesting question: would we rather be translated ourselves or have the power to translate anyone we chose? Which is more powerful and effective? Obviously, the ability to translate others. Do you realize that you have that ability right now? You can go to our Encounter Today YouTube channel, and by hitting the share button on one of our videos, you can translate me into someone else’s home! What would the apostle Paul have thought about such technology? It is truly miraculous, and yet we either yawn at it or ignore it.

Reclaiming Goliath’s Sword

And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.

– 1 Samuel 21:9

Media Engagement

Rather than completely avoiding Goliath’s sword, let us engage with it purposefully. Support and create media content that reflects godly values, using these platforms to counter the prevailing negative narratives. Share stories of hope, love, and redemption that inspire and point people towards God.
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one (Luke 22:36).

Jesus told His disciples to sell their garments and buy a sword. He told them to monetize and get rid of what they were using to protect themselves from the elements. Why? Because there was a weapon in the enemy’s hands that he wanted them to purchase. God is calling every believer to learn how to wield the sword of media. Don’t run from it—redeem it! My son has learned how to master this weapon and now trains churches how to use it to their advantage. Believers, regardless of age, can learn how to become intentional about liking, commenting on, and sharing the messages their ministry is putting out. This is part of 21st-century evangelism and prayer. The enemy wants to use social media to divide and distract us. Let’s turn it around and use it to bring us together in prayer and keep the church focused on God’s Word. Together, we can dominate the adversary and spread this anointing around the world.

God is opening is armory and releasing weapons that haven’t been seen in generations.
